Choosing a New Front Door for your Home

Front doors are the first things your guests see, and the first thing you see when you arrive home. You want it to make a good impression and to make you happy to see your own home. Therefore, it’s important to choose a front door that you are happy with. Here are some of the most popular options:

Traditional Front Doors

These are likely to be made from either solid timber or a composite material that resembles timber. If you want you door to last as long as possible, composite may be the best option for you as it tends to be more hardy. However, there is no denying that a real wood door will look beautiful so if you are focused on aesthetics, choose one of these. You could keep the timber colour or paint the door a different colour to fit in with your home. Choose small windows, usually an arched shape, to really cement in the traditional aesthetic you’re looking for.

Modern Front Doors

A modern door will look great on a new build home, giving it a contemporary edge and making it look up to date. Again, colours will vary, though style wise, you will probably be looking at more clean edges and straight lines. Windows can be a lovely feature to let in some light – think square and rectangular ones, perhaps even asymmetrically placed in the door. Dress the windows with modern blinds to keep the look consistent.

Door Furniture

This includes things like the handle, letterbox, hinges and door knocker that you choose. Make sure you select ones that go together and that you take into consideration the outside of your home, such as outdoor lights and garage doors. Brushed gold designs are currently very popular and will look beautiful with both traditional and contemporary designs.
